Travelers adore the relaxed vibe of Nevis and St. Kitts travel. Yet, there’s always something fresh in the mix alongside the classic gems that make your journey extra unique.
New: A Pier Designated For St. Kitts – Nevis Water Taxis
Flights to Nevis are infrequent. So, visitors usually arrive through the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts. A fairly smooth-running machine transports passengers to Reggae Beach. There, several water taxi companies ferry passengers and their luggage to Nevis.
Many of the taxi drivers are in business with the captains and owners of the water taxis. They can keep each other perfectly informed as to when clients are arriving, significantly reducing wait times.
The drive across the peninsula has incredible views of both islands, the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Taxi drivers will wait with you until the boats reach the pier on the St. Kitts side at night. This is excellent because it can be pretty lonely on that side of the island at night.
For a while, on the Nevis side, these water taxis docked at a couple of different piers along the coast. This sometimes causes some discontent for other boats and hotels sharing those docks.
So, they created a cement taxi pier just to the right of Oualie Beach Resort and the Nevis Yacht Club. The pier has a gate and plenty of light at nighttime.
Relatively New: Nevis and St Kitts Travel Deals
Paradise Beach Nevis constructed new villas right on the beach that offer an experience on the island unlike any other.
Five two-bedroom beach houses offer private plunge pools, a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen, and drawbridge stairs for complete privacy. A Nevis and St. Kitts Travel guest can access concierge services, including a private chef.
These villas seem like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but they might be short-lived.
Rumors suggest that they built them outside property lines and must move them. I am not privy to the ins and outs of the legal proceedings with this. We don’t know what the outcome will be and if anything will happen at all.
Four Seasons Resort Nevis is also undergoing renovations. There will be a new infinity pool overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Adding to it is a new beach restaurant concept offering farm-to-table menus.
That is, knowing the Nevis and the Caribbean could be a bit of a stretch. However, no matter what the renovations, they are sure to impress.
What Hasn’t Changed
For Nevis and St Kitts travel, The Hermitage still offers its West Indian pig roasts every Wednesday night. For vegetarians, vegans, or anyone who doesn’t like seeing a spit-roasted pig, the experience might not be for you. Still, the pork is succulent, and there are plenty of other dishes to choose from. These include tania fritters, johnnycakes, and plenty of veggie dishes.
The Hermitage is a hotel built around one of the oldest wooden houses in the Caribbean (built circa 1670). It has charming cottages throughout the property. The Lupinacci family has owned and operated the hotel for decades.
The building that houses the Alexander Hamilton Museum is, in fact, where Alexander Hamilton was born. You would think that more people would visit with the incredible rise of the popular Hamilton musical. Yet, it is just as sleepy as it once was. The building was originally made around 1680.
In 1840, an earthquake destroyed it. The building was restored in 1983. It is not a state-of-the-art multimedia museum by any standards. But seeing the interconnected Caribbean and U.S. history makes it worth the visit.
A few new things are happening in Nevis and St Kitts travel, but Nevis remains a sleepy island. It is ideal for relaxing and getting one of the best night’s sleep of your life. The Queen of the Caribees is most definitely worth a visit.
