St-Eustatius Caribbean is an island gem undiscovered by tourists. It’s located between St. Kitts and St. Barths.

The Caribbean’s Undiscovered Island

St Eustatius Caribbean Island: While it’s just a 20-minute flight from St Maarten, with five regular flights each day on regional carrier Winair, the island of St Eustatius has a population of only 4,000 people and is not yet a tourist destination in any significant way.

But, it has the elements of one: crystal clear waters perfect for diving; a group of green small mountains for hiking; and a beautiful stretch called Gallows Bay. This is a location that has a quality so sought after in today’s world: quiet.

Things to see and do

When you arrive at St Eustatius, go ashore and explore the old historical town of Oranjestad which is the only city on the island. Also, it is known as the smallest capital in the world. A cliff divides the city into two parts: Upper Town and Lower Town. The Upper Town is now the historic center.

Hiking to the top of the Quill is a must while visiting St Eustatius. The Quill is a dormant volcano rising to a height of nearly 2,000 feet above sea level. Don’t miss the lush semi-tropical rainforest that has overgrown the crater.

St Eustatius has three nature parks – on land and at sea: the St Eustatius National Marine Park, Quill/Boven National Park, and Miriam Schmidt Botanical Garden. Two of them have national park status. These areas have been designated as important bird areas.

This old colonial town, with its empty cobblestone streets and boarded-up brick buildings, has amazing potential. It has the potential to be a great town, a great small city. A micro-hub of culture, arts, and music on St-Eustatius Caribbean Island Undiscovered by tourists.
