Whales make an annual migration to warmer waters. These incredible animals can reach lengths of up to 52 feet and weights of up to 80,000 pounds. Adult humpback whales have a thick layer of blubber that protects them during the summer in the cold waters of the North Atlantic.
The adults stay north during the winter months because their diet of plankton is abundant there. However, if the whales are pregnant or expecting, they must migrate southward since the calves will not yet have that protective layer of fat.

BVI Sea Turtles

With over 200 species of birds, the BVI is a birdwatcher’s dream. Since the number of tourists has diminished, the number of birds has increased. Keep a lookout for red-tailed hawks, Caribbean martins, mountain doves, and pearly-eyed thrashers.
