Matrix Catamarans Offer Luxury. The Matrix Luxury Catamaran Yacht company started as it stands today– a family business. After many years of chartering yachts, Peter and Fiona Wehrley founded Matrix in 2001 when they decided to build a luxury catamaran of their own. They put Peter’s structural engineering experience together with their extensive sailing history and got to work, soon including their son, Mark, who himself had extensive sailing and charter operating experience. The South African-based company still has many of the same team members today that helped to get the company started.
