Crew Profiles: Captain & Chef | Greece Luxury Motor Yacht Charter

Captain Yannis Papapanos was born in 1968 and is married with one daughter. He has graduated from the Hellenic Navy and is a Master-Mariner and Yachts Master for RYA. His journey in yachting started in 2010. He speaks English fluently and has an Open Water Scuba Diving Certificate.

His charismatic personality, professionalism, and enthusiasm for his profession are why charter guests rave about their time aboard JULIE M.

Chef Alkiviades Karo was born in 1987. Alki graduated from IEK AKMI in 2007 and has attended many classes to expand his knowledge: Molecular gastronomy, Cretan Cuisine, French Cuisine Techniques, Pastry and Chocolate, Japanese cuisine and sushi, and Mediterranean Creative Gastronomy.

He has been the Executive Chef of Cafe Boheme in Athens since 2009 and Ouzeri restaurant in Santorini during the summer months from 2011 to 2016. Not only is Alki very creative and hard-working, but also competent in a very wide range of cuisines. He joined JULIE M in April 2020, offering guests an incredible gastronomical experience.

Sample Itinerary | Athens to Athens

Here is a sample itinerary to get an idea of what you can see and do for a week aboard JULIE M. Please note that this is just a sample. We will work with you to create a custom itinerary based on your interests and desires and the sailing conditions at the time of travel.

Day 1: Athens to Aegina Island

Distance: Approximately 15 nautical miles

Welcome aboard the JULIE M! Departing from Alimos Marina, our first destination is the charming Aegina Island. Enjoy the stunning views of the Acropolis as we cruise along the Saronic Gulf.

Anchor and explore its archaeological sites near Aegina, including the Temple of Aphaia. For dinner, indulge in local seafood at the seaside taverna “To Kanoni,” renowned for its fresh catch and traditional Greek flavors.

Day 2: Aegina Island to Poros Island

Distance: Approximately 20 nautical miles

Today, we set sail for the serene Poros Island. Dock at the charming harbor and spend the day exploring the island’s shops and cafes. Take a leisurely walk to the clock tower for panoramic views.

Enjoy a gourmet spread prepared by our private chef on board for lunch. In the evening, dine at “Poseidon Taverna” with its waterfront setting and delectable Mediterranean cuisine.

Day 3: Poros Island to Hydra Island

Distance: Approximately 25 nautical miles

Cruise to the enchanting Hydra Island. Immerse yourself in the car-free streets filled with boutiques and art galleries. Discover the Historical Archive Museum and enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring. Indulge in a beachside barbecue on board, or venture ashore to dine at “Sunset Restaurant,” which offers captivating harbor views.

Day 4: Hydra Island to Spetses Island

Distance: Approximately 15 nautical miles

Our next stop is the lively Spetses Island. Anchor in a secluded bay and spend the day swimming and snorkeling in the turquoise waters. For lunch, your chef will prepare a Mediterranean feast on board. As the sun sets, disembark to explore Spetses town.

Day 5: Spetses Island to Nafplio

Distance: Approximately 25 nautical miles

Cruise to the picturesque Nafplio, known for its historic charm. Take a guided tour of Palamidi Fortress, offering panoramic views. Return to the yacht for a gourmet lunch on board. Relax and enjoy the afternoon with the yacht’s water toys.

Day 6: Nafplio to Monemvasia

Distance: Approximately 25 nautical miles

Today, we set the course for the medieval town of Monemvasia. Anchor near Monemvasia and take a tender ride to explore its cobbled streets and Byzantine churches. Return to the yacht for a relaxing afternoon. Savor an intimate dinner on board, prepared by our chef using locally sourced ingredients.

Day 7: Monemvasia to Athens Marina

Distance: Approximately 20 nautical miles
