Dynamic Mother and Daughter Duo Discuss their New Plant-Based Eating Cookbook titled “Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease Cookbook”.

During the past two decades, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn worked in tandem with his wife Ann to treat many of his cardiac patients. The couple’s daughter, Jane Esselstyn, is a registered nurse and busy mother of three who has always created fun and nutritious meals for her family. Jane often works with Ann preparing meals for family gatherings, and the synergy between the two ultimately led to their decision to develop a new plant-based cookbook together. Now finished, The Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease Cookbook include more than 125 delicious, easy, and nutritious recipes. It arrives in stores everywhere on September 2.

Plant-Based Cuisine Yacht Charter

I was introduced to plant-based cuisine by Captain Dave of the crewed Virgin Islands-based sailboat “Bel Ami” at the St. Thomas Yacht Show in November 2011. Upon my return home to Florida, I read some of the most popular books about plant-based cuisine. These are:

  1. Forks over Knives
  2. Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease
  3. The China Study

We began a plant-based cuisine lifestyle which has proven to be very beneficial to our health. It is not always easy. Dr. Esselstyn’s advice about avoiding getting very hungry and his use of the word “Avoid”. Avoiding oils, avoiding avocado, and avoiding dairy was very helpful. His other advice was some supplementation which made us aware of our Vitamin D levels. This I believe was a lifesaver for me as my level was in the insufficiency range.

Plant-based cuisine can be very exciting and many yacht charter chefs create amazing plant-based meals for their guests. The Chef of the luxury catamaran “King’s Ransom”, the chef on “M/Y Far Niente”, Chef Sue of sailing Yacht “Marae” are all outstanding chefs who create amazing meals. We have sampled many of these meals at the various yacht charter shows in New England, the Virgin Islands, and Antigua.
