Departing from Dubrovnik, a one-week sailing trip around nearby islands might include Mljet, Lastovo, Korčula, and the Elafiti. During the voyage, you’ll be dropping anchor in sheltered bays or mooring up in waterside villages to dine. Here we’ve chosen seven of the South Dalmatia Best Restaurants on the islands of South Dalmatia.

Kod Marka, island of Šipan, Elafiti

Šipanska Luka lies in a deep-sheltered bay, where yachters often overnight. Moreover, Kod Marka is widely regarded as one of the best restaurants on the islands of South Dalmatia. There’s no menu – the choice changes daily, depending on that morning’s catch. Specialties include Marko’s legendary octopus polpette, lobster risotto, and squid baked with tomatoes and potatoes. There are just a dozen tables, so you should certainly reserve several days in advance.

Restaurant Obala, island of Lopud, Elafiti

Founded in 1936, Obala lies in Lopud Town on the tiny car-free islet of Lopud. Guests dine at candle-lit tables on the seafront promenade, overlooking the bay. Above all, it is known for the house specialty, grilled fillet of sea bass with Obala dressing (olive oil, garlic, parsley, lemon and black pepper). After that, you might round off with Obala pancakes, filled with Mascarpone cream with cherry sauce.

Maestral, island of Mljet

“A local fisherman supplies us with fresh tuna and swordfish”, says owner Tihomir Hrnkaš. Adding, “we offer a welcoming family atmosphere”. Sailing guests at Maestral moor up along the quay, then dine on the roof terrace, with spectacular views down onto Okuklje Bay. The house specialties are octopus carpaccio; black spaghetti with squid, shrimp, and parmesan foam; and chocolate lava cake.

In medieval Korčula Town, the Michelin-starred LD is certainly among the best restaurants in Dalmatia. “Our menu is based on local seasonal produce”, says chef Marko Gajski. His Creative Mediterranean cuisine features delicacies such as oysters, scallops, lobster, sea urchin, caviar, and truffles. Chose between the six-course tasting menu or a la carte, and ask the sommelier to advise on wine pairing.

Konoba Maha, island of Korčula

This agrotourism-style eatery lies in the hills, a 10-minute drive from Korčula Town. “All the ingredients are homemade or from local growers”, says joint owner-chef Jakša Marelić. Expect traditional dishes with a modern twist. Take a table in the stone courtyard, order a mohito, then chose from delights such as cod polpette with garlic and saffron dip, or oak-smoked octopus with chimichuri sauce. In addition, they also do peka dishes. In our opinion, Maha is certainly one of the best island restaurants in Dalmatia.

Konoba Mate, island of Korčula

In the rural village of Pupnat, this family-run eatery serves authentic homemade food and wine. In addition, guests dine at candle-lit tables, in front of an old stone farmhouse with potted geraniums. Above all, Konoba Mate is known for the owner’s home-smoked pršut (prosciutto ham), goats’ cheese, marinated eggplant, and šporki makaruni (homemade pasta with a meaty sauce). In conclusion, you might round off with almond and carrot cheesecake or a rosemary sorbet.

Triton, island of Lastovo

In Zaklopatica Bay, this family-run seafood restaurant has mooring out front, complete with electricity and water. Indeed, everything on the menu is freshly caught or home-grown. Additionally, favorites include sea bream carpaccio, lobster spaghetti, and baked John Dory. Remote, peaceful, and much-loved by sailing folk, Triton is among the best restaurants on the islands of South Dalmatia.
