A few years back, at a past BVI Tortola Boatshow, we were invited to a broker’s luncheon on the luxury catamaran “Something Wonderful.” This was a great opportunity to meet the crew and see the yacht firsthand. We were able to tour the yacht, a 2014 58’ Leopard that accommodates 8 guests in four suites. Please continue reading for our Catamaran Something Wonderful Lunch Review.

Something Wonderful Awaits

Catamaran SOMETHING WONDERFUL review
Catamaran Something Wonderful

As I stepped on board, Captain Graeme Loudon and Chef Lauren Harris warmly welcomed me and offered me my choice of beverages as I sat down. Our first course was a Creamy Zucchini Soup with a slice of homemade Whole Grain Gluten-Free bread. This might sound like too hearty a course for a midday meal in the BVI. However, Chef Lauren’s preparation proved my assumption wrong. The zucchini flavor in the soup was bright and green and the base stayed light without losing its creaminess. The rich brown bread had a nutty flavor and a tenderness that also was surprising.

The next dish was a Warm Beet Risotto topped with Crisp Bacon and Goat Cheese Crumbles served over field greens. The delightful balance of the creamy risotto with the tang of the goat cheese and the crunch of the salty bacon and crisp greens was evidence of Lauren’s knowledge of taste and consistency. The dish stayed in a delicious safe zone without overstepping the boundaries of texture or flavor.

Our dessert was a Mini Chilled Key Lime pie. To be fair, I love key lime pie in any shape or size. But I commend Chef Lauren’s decision to serve it in this manner. The BVI is warm year-round and as our last dish before heading back out to the show, I really appreciated this cool and refreshing version. Served in a small white cup, the tart pie sat atop a graham cracker crust that was more of a packed crumble than a heavy, buttery layer. So very satisfying without feeling fatty.

Design Features Aboard Something Wonderful

Following the meal, Captain Graeme took us on a tour of Something Wonderful. This Leopard Catamaran model offers a huge amount of natural light. Combined with the taller ceiling in the salon gives a very spacious, bright feeling. Coupled with the light gray wood finish, the windows and décor give the boat a very modern, contemporary air.

The layout of the luxury catamaran “Something Wonderful” is Leopard’s newer design. Offering a master suite on the main deck off of the salon. This allows for private access to the forward cockpit. Or, you could choose to leave the door to the master study area open to enjoy the breeze. It’s a straight shot from the forward deck to the aft cockpit through the salon.

The flybridge and aft cockpit are very spacious. Indeed it would be great outdoor gathering areas for you and your guests. To relax and take in the Caribbean air. Especially after an active day of water sports, including their new underwater Seabob! “Something Wonderful” was sailing the Bahamas.

Experiences to Remember

At the end of the luncheon, I was convinced that between the food, water toys, hospitality, and the boat itself; Any guest would say after their charter that they had truly experienced “Something Wonderful”.
