About the Exuma Cays

The Exuma Cays are a string of 365 small islands stretching for about 130 miles in the heart of the Bahamas, bordered on the west side by the shallow Exuma Bank and on the east side by the deep Atlantic waters of the Exuma Sound. Despite being fairly shallow, the light blue-green emerald waters of the Exuma Bank are navigable and offer sheltered cruising from the prevailing winds and seas. There are an estimated 5000 beaches in the Exumas.

Six Reasons to Charter in the Exumas

Easy flights: Only an hour from Miami, Nassau, and Georgetown, have daily non-stop flights to numerous US airports.

Sheltered waters: Unlike the eastern Caribbean with open Atlantic waters between islands, the Exumas Cays are accessible from the sheltered, calm bank.

No crowds: We’ve all seen pictures of anchorages in the BVIs, Grenadines, St Barths, and other popular charter destinations with hundreds of boats and yachts anchored nearby. We don’t like it, and neither do our guests. Instead, in the Exumas, you will find quiet and peaceful anchorages and beaches that you often won’t have to share with others. It’s like owning that beach or island for the day.

Short distances: With most Cays never more than a half-mile apart, you don’t have to spend much time underway between anchorages. Less time underway means more time to explore and play and lower fuel expenses.

Unique Things to do: Where else can you snorkel the wreck of a drug-running DC-3, visit wild endangered iguanas, feed swimming pigs, snorkel a partially submerged grotto used in numerous movies, hike to a cave in the middle of an island yet open to ocean water, snorkel on an underwater piano and mermaid sculpture, pet wild stingrays and nurse sharks, and much more.

More shades of emerald blues than you can imagine. The shallow sandy bottom of the Exumas is unique and is the reason for the striking colors of the waters. Indeed, all it takes is one look at satellite pictures of our planet to realize there is nothing else like it anywhere.
