Southern Italy Charter Itineraries
From the Gulf of Naples to the iconic Amalfi Coast, southern Italy will leave you speechless. While the views from the land are spectacular, an experience out on the Tyrrhenian Sea cannot be replicated. Choose one of the Southern Italy Charter Itineraries to reach hidden islands, remote beaches, and many seaside wonders unreachable by land.
Naples
Depart from Naples, where you can start your day with Sfogliatella, a local ricotta pastry, and end it with delicious Pizza Napoletana or Paccheri all Scolgio (pasta with shellfish). In between eating, visit Castle Nuovo (New) and Castle Ovo (Old), situated along the marina. If time allows, walk the impressive Piazza del Plebiscito and stroll the upscale Chiaia waterfront. For the best views, however, take the funicular to the hilltop neighborhood of Vomero.
Just across the gulf from Naples is Sorrento, an old port with an incredible view of Mt. Vesuvius. The historic town is a great starting point for trips to Capri and along the Amalfi Coast.
Ischia & Procida
With full stomachs, they set sail for the Phlegraean Islands of Ischia and Procida. On the way, pass the Gaiola Underwater Park before touching down in the port of Ischia. Close by, visit the Aragonese Castle and admire the view. Next, pamper yourself at one of many natural thermal baths and spas along Ischia’s coast.
Known as the green island, visit a botanical garden or vineyard to taste the local Biancholella wine. Just a few kilometers away, you can also journey to Procida to see the clifftop Monastery of Santa Margherita Nuova looking down upon you.
Pontine Islands
Next, take advantage of your yacht charter’s freedom by sailing to the remote Pontine Islands. Dive, snorkel, or swim in the six islands’ secluded coves, cliffs, and sandy beaches. You may even see a sunken ship. For a private island experience, watch the sunset from tiny Palmarola. Instead, anchor on the largest island of Ponza for the crystal clear waters and a lively atmosphere.
Capri
Capri is more than just a magical island with charming restaurants, villas, and shopping. The island has nature walks, ancient ruins, and a mountain peak. Whether you love hiking or simply dining on delicious seafood with a view, you’ll be at home on Capri. While onshore, take the chairlift to Anacapri, the upper city set amongst vines and olive trees.
From the water, sail to the Blue Grotto and Punta Carena lighthouse at sunset. Before departing, navigate the many rock formations around the Point of Tragara and view the famous Natural Arch. On your way back to the coast, you can sail around the Galli islands or Sirenuses islands before your next stop in Positano.
Amalfi Coast
Hillside fishing villages surrounded by citrus fruit, flowers, and vineyards, the Amalfi Coast is picturesque. The 25-mile-long, treacherous coastal road connecting the towns is even a UNESCO site. A yacht charter, however, will allow you to see the coast with style and ease.
Positano
In Positano, admire the domed Saint Mary of the Assumption Church and houses rising above the beach. For a different view, venture along the Pathway to the Gods or visit the Maria Cuomo Winery. End your day with an octopus and a glass of Fiano D'Avellino, a local white wine. Finish the meal with limoncello, a tasty liquor made from the area's lemons.
Ravello
Heading east, pass the Fiordo di Furore, a beautiful gorge with a stone bridge crossing it above. Coast around the Conca dei Marmi and stop in Amalfi to see the gorgeous 13th-Century Cloister del Paradiso. Inland, visit the floral town of Ravello, which sits 1,200 ft. above sea level. Have a gelato and take the coastal view from Villa Rufolo or Villa Cimbrone.
Next, sail to Minori, where you can walk the fragrant Path of the Lemons, a UNESCO site. Pass by the Tower of Cetera and continue east to tranquil Vietri Sul Mare. Here, you can peruse the Majolica ceramics and ornate buildings in the artsy village. End your trip in the port city of Salerno with a scenic walk along the Lungomare Trieste. While in town, visit the Minerva Botanical Garden or head to the Arechi Castle.
