Summer Sailing From Split
Croatia enjoys nice sailing weather from May until the end of September, making for a long charter season. It is especially perfect for outdoor activities like sightseeing, swimming, and sunbathing. Even better, especially for social distancing, it’s less crowded in September than in the summer months. There are so many places to sail, starting from Split.
What To See and Do in Split
Palace of Diocletian
The Palace of Diocletian is an incredible historic site that should be at the top of your list of things to do in and around Split, Croatia. Built in the fourth century, the sprawling palace complex was originally the residence of Roman Emperor Diocletian. Today, it’s one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the world, and it’s a great place to explore, with plenty of sights to see.
While strolling through the palace grounds, you’ll find a variety of architectural features, such as the Temple of Jupiter, the Cathedral of St. Domnius, and the Peristyle Square. The Substructures are also worth exploring – this is where Diocletian’s servants and staff used to live.
A promenade stretching along the seafront of the old town, the Riva is a great place to take a leisurely stroll and admire the yachts moored in the harbor. You’ll find all kinds of shops, cafes, and restaurants along the waterfront, as well as vendors offering souvenirs and local handicrafts. The architecture of the old town is also on full display here, so be sure to take some time to take it all in.
