Crew Highlights | East Coast MotorYacht Charter LEXINGTON
Captain Bill Wassmer
From the tender age of nine, Captain Bill took to the waters of Long Island Sound and began competing in regattas in nearby bays like Manhasset, Larchmont, Stamford, and Cold Spring Harbor. In his college years, Bill found himself at the helm of some of the most prestigious yachts around, skippering four 12-meter America’s Cup boats, including Intrepid, Columbia, Heritage, and American Eagle – even serving as crew for the great Ted Turner on the latter.
Additionally, Bill worked as a head sailing instructor at the Sagamore Yacht Club in Oyster Bay, New York, managing up to 85 kids in a summer sailing program with more than 20 one-design sailboats. During the same period, he participated in the Block Island Race, the New York Yacht Club races, and the Newport/Bermuda Race.
His impressive experience includes covering 38,000 miles – taking a yacht from Canada, down the entire west coast of the USA and Mexico, through the Panama Canal, up to the Cayman Islands, and back to the USA via Key West.
Since then, Bill has taken M/Y LEXINGTON from Key West to Maine numerous times, exploring the US East Coast. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also a licensed private pilot and a PADI certified Open Water Diver.
